The two-part webinar will discuss how trauma can be due to overwhelming debt or job loss, or due to generational financial hardships or behaviors with money. A recent survey by Experian®, a multinational data analytics and consumer credit reporting company, found that 68 per cent of U.S. adults feel they have suffered from, or are currently suffering from, financial trauma. The report said that this finding explained the prevalence of negative feelings and angst related to financial matters, with around 65% of adults admitting to experiencing negative thoughts, flashbacks and anxiety when dealing with financial issues.

On Sunday, the caregivers were the ones getting taken care of at West Bloomfield’s “A Day off for Caregivers” event hosted by The Dorothy & Peter Brown Adult Day Care Center.
“It’s a day for all the caregivers to relax and enjoy and not think about everyday life for our loved ones,” said Beth Sadoff, a Metro Detroit caregiver to and wife of Edward, who lives with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Gesher Human Services, The J Detroit and Jewish Federation of Detroit will again co-sponsor the Metro Detroit Nonprofit Career Expo, which will take place on Wednesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at The J Detroit in West Bloomfield.
The Metro Detroit Nonprofit Career Expo will feature seven local nonprofit agencies offering approximately 50 jobs, including part-time, full-time and seasonal positions. Gesher Human Services will also provide free onsite resume assistance and support from certified professional resume writers, headshot-style photographs for attendees to use in their LinkedIn profiles and information on a variety of career assistance.

“Many people don’t understand the impact of credit scores on their financial well-being, but your credit report is actually your financial power,” Gesher Financial Education Manager Laltsha Cunningham said in a press release. “Your score determines how much you pay for everything, for example it can affect the rates you pay for home and car insurance. And your score can even determine whether you get a job in some places as many employers do a credit check.”

The program is again being offered as a recent report from Pew Research Center shows that the older workforce has nearly quadrupled in size since the mid-1980s, driven partly by the growth of the 65 and older population.
In addition, the earning power of more mature workers has also increased: in 1987, a typical worker aged 65 or older earned around $13 an hour while in 2022 the hourly rate average was $22. Recharge! will offer participants the opportunity to reconnect with their skills and interests, refresh their resume, restore belief in themselves – particularly if they are in a middle of life transition – and re-energize their job search process. The program requires registration and a $40 material fee, although scholarships are available to ensure there is no financial barrier to participating.
