In response, Gesher has been reaching out to area food pantries and other agencies to address food concerns.

Gesher offers financial education around budgeting and helping clients stretch their dollars, she says. They teach about being proactive versus reactive, reducing costs and food waste and increasing savings. That said, many of their clients, low- to moderate-income families, don’t have emergency funds to even purchase groceries, especially when SNAP was on pause.
